Nice People Nice things.

These are some of the blocks for my Nice People Nice Things Quilt. I am doing it differently to the Quilt as you go method that the kit suggests you do. I made most of these while on holiday in April. I will be taking them to Sydney this weekend to do at the Airport.  This will be the 4th year of going to Sydney in June. Only once has my flight been on time. The worst it was delayed was 8 hours due to bad fog. Last year it was only 2 hours. So I will take plenty of stitching to do at the airport......just in case.
They are very quick and fun little stitcheries to do.
Oh dear my 17 year old has just started vacuuming her room. I wonder what she wants!!!!!!!!!!! Trust me, she has only ever done this once before. Oh no, not a party while we are away!!!!!!

Over the last week.....

P6080277 This pattern arrived this week. It's called Between Friends by Quilt Soup. Love their patterns. This one is very bright  but I could see my collection of Mrs March just looking perfect. I did a test run with this but it was just too pale. So this afternoon  changed it all.
Carey from http://blueberrylane.typepad.com/  set a challenge for us earlier this year. She sent me some green strips 2 and a half inches wide and I think 9 inches long and I had to use these in a quilt. Well I've changed my mind so many times but when I saw this pattern I thought.. Just perfect.  Trying to place these photo's a little better but after half an hour this is the best I can do.
Hope you are all having a great and productive long weekend.

Peanut Butter Fudge.

P6010264 P6010269 Look at this!!!!!!  It was suppose to have chocolate melts in it but my dear husband thought I meant cadbury chocolate.
400 g milk or dark chocolate
400 g white chocolate
1 cup crunchy peanut butter

Combine half the peanut butter with the milk/dark chocolate until smooth. Combine the remaining peanut butter with the white chocolate until smooth.
Cool slightly.

Drop spoonfuls of white chocolate mixture and dark chocolate mixture into a lined 18cm by 28cm slice tin. Gently shake pan to level mixture then pull s skewer backwards and forwards through for a marbled effect.

Refrigerate until set.

I wonder if that plate will stay untouched until after dinner tonight at my nephews birthday dinner.
I also wonder how long will it take for 9 teenage boys and 1 teenage girl to finish it off.

Another bag pattern.

P5310259 I bought this pattern and fabric today at a quilt show. The fabric is from Amy Butlers new range and is yummy!!! I'm making the bag from the new Posh range. It's looking great so far. I think I will make another bag with Amy's fabric.
If you go and have a look at Primitive patches.com.au  web site, there is a link to her blog on the right hand side of the page.
There is a beautiful story there about Susan. She has a wonderful husband which I'm sure you will all agree.Basically Susan was in a coma and had a long recovery time. Her husband taught himself how to quilt and bind so he could help with her unfinished quilts.
There are some photo's there of Susan's quilts.
Enjoy her story.
Off to finish my bag now. Might get another post in tonight.

Busy Busy busy......

Hopefully I don't loose this post. Well, I've been very busy the last few weeks with sewing, cutting, sewing and cutting some more. I have nothing exciting to show you just yet except for a few blocks. These are 4 of my

I have some more photo's i'll put in the next post. This one has taken over an hour to do. @#*&% typepad changes!!!!!!!!!!

Trip to Ballarat

Yesterday we had a trip to one of my favourite patchwork shops. Ballarat Patchwork. It is such a beautiful shop. It is well worth the hour and a half drive. I bought some beautiful new fabrics, pattern, templates and quilt labels.
So far I have lost this post 3 times. So i'm keeping this one brief in case it disappears again.
Lots of brights and some 1930's. Then off to Gails Patchwork where it really is Mary Rose heaven to pick up some different fabrics. She must have every Mary Rose ever released.
The brights are to make a circle quilt  called Tequila Sunrise, with which I thing will look great.
Oooh look at that!!!!!! I must be sounding stressed here, my husband has just bought me a scotch and coke. ha ha
He and my son are cooking tonight's dinner. So far I've been called away 3 times to help. Now my photo's will not do as I wish them to. P5110250_2

This is my Star quilt I have been working on. There is over 700 one and a half inch squares used in this pattern. I have not been able to put on the final points to the stars as I have run out of the pink. ON the search now for some more fabric.
I'm going to finish this post because now my photo's are playing funny buggars. Hope you all had a great Sunday.

Sampler

This is a sampler my Mother-In-Law made in an internment camp in Palestine in 1942.  She was watching me stitching one day and showed it to me.  She was going to throw it out. I grabbed it with both hands and said I would take great care of it. I had it framed for my husbands birthday a couple of years ago and it sits on our lounge room wall. I'm sorry about the shine of the glass but I think you can see it clearly. I just think this is an amazing piece of work for a ten year old little girl.

Over the last week.

Finally got these stitcheries finished this week for a shop sample for my friends shop. The fabric in the background isn't being used but I wanted something with color to make the stitchery stand out. There are nine in the quilt but these are just a few of my favourites. Have heaps more to post but have to get ready now for the Anzac Day Clash at the MCGP4250212 .
